Beginning with John Kilner in 1842, the Kilner family were owners and operators of glass plants at Yorkshire, England, for three generations. The senior Kilner brought his two oldest sons into the business in 1844, opening a plant at Wakefield – eventually bringing in the younger two sons as well.
This is an antique "Kilner Soda-Torpedo Bottle", made in England, with blob neck and marked with a "K" on the end. These torpedo bottles were made with the pointed ends for carbonated drinks, making it impossible to set the bottle upright, and only laying the bottle on its side, preventing it from exploding or bursting.
This is an excellent piece to use as a wall vase.
