Vintage Mid Century Mod GLIT Iceland Lava Rock Volcanic Art Pottery Casserole Dish Inspired by the Icelandic landscape which the mineral, clay and lava were taken from, Glit Reykjavik Pottery was the only ceramic factory in Iceland when it was founded by Ragnar Kjartansson, sculptor and ceramic artist (b.1923 - d.1989) in 1958. Lave is incorporated into the glaze which produces a 3d textured piece Covered casserole dish in neutral colors of browns, tans, blacks, whites, blues, greens Bottom has GILT Iceland Lava spelled out and sticker that says Handmade in Iceland FLAW: small chip on underside of cover, see pic There are two spots where the lava looks like it's missing but I believe it was the design.
