RARE BOOK: The Illustrated Dune by Frank Herbert, 1978 paperback ed, (F-G cond.)

1978 edition of "The Illustrated Dune" by Frank Herbert with illustrations in color and B&W by John Schoenherr. Few of these remain in existence, and even the nicest of them are a bit rough. This copy is in fair-good (F-G) condition, with a shelf-worn cover which has a small rip at the top (see photos). The interior of the book appears almost untouched, with slight yellowing evident on the page edges. The spine appears uncreased (see photo), which is unusual for a book this age. Other than the one exception noted, the book displays wear consistent with shelf storage/wear for a book its age (44 years). This book was likely stored in a bookshelf before I got it, and then in a ziplock bag within a closed box the entire time since I bought it 14 years ago. Condition would score as "F-G w/Shelf Wear" from the standpoint of a collector. $200 is a very fair price for it today, and $149 is a steal. This would be $270+ without the small tear in the cover. A "New or Very Fine" copy might fetch upwards of $1600. If well cared for, this rare book should increase in value as time passes. It has easily tripled since I bought it (I paid $49 in 2008). Before you try low-balling me, go look this book up on Amazon and eBay (I did - see screenshots). A copy in "Good" shape is $200+. The photos are an integral part of this listing.
